The Pakistan Cricket Board has received an overwhelming response to its invitation for new franchises, as 12 different parties have officially submitted bids to acquire two new Pakistan Super League teams.
According to details shared by the PCB, the bidders represent five different countries, including Pakistan, the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the league’s expanding international footprint and commercial strength.
The board confirmed that this initial phase of the bidding process has now concluded and the outcome will be formally announced on 27 December. Only bidders who meet the technical criteria will move forward to the next stage.
The second phase will involve open competition bidding, where shortlisted parties will compete to secure ownership of the two new teams. This stage is scheduled to take place on 8 January at the Islamabad Convention Centre.
PCB officials stated that the entire process is being conducted with a strong emphasis on transparency, fairness, and competitiveness, in line with global best practices. The expansion is expected to further strengthen the Pakistan Super League’s position as one of the world’s leading T20 leagues.
