The federal government has collected a record Rs. 371 billion in petroleum levy from the public during the first quarter (July–September) of the current fiscal year, marking a 42% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to documents from the Ministry of Finance, an additional Rs. 110 billion was collected in just three months, as fuel prices and levies continued to rise in line with IMF conditions.
Pakistan achieved a budget surplus of 1.6% of GDP, with the primary balance recorded at 2.7%. The government’s total revenue reached Rs. 6,200 billion, while expenditures stood at Rs. 4,080 billion.
Interest payments on loans were Rs. 1,377 billion, defense spending Rs. 447 billion, and subsidies Rs. 119 billion. Provinces received Rs. 1,775 billion under the NFC Award, with Punjab taking the largest share at Rs. 882 billion.
Collections under the carbon levy totaled Rs. 10 billion, while Rs. 3 billion came from the EV adoption levy.
All four provinces posted budget surpluses — Punjab Rs. 441 billion, Sindh Rs. 208 billion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs. 77 billion, and Balochistan Rs. 53 billion — reflecting improved fiscal discipline under IMF monitoring.
