Karachi Introduces New Motorcycle Rule on Shahrah-e-Faisal Starting December

Karachi is preparing for a major shift in its traffic system as authorities introduce a new rule for motorcyclists on Shahrah-e-Faisal, the city’s busiest and most important corridor. The Karachi Traffic Police confirmed that beginning December, all bikes will be directed into dedicated motorcycle lanes to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow.

DIG Traffic Karachi Peer Muhammad Shah shared the update during a meeting at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said the new lane system is part of a broader reform plan designed to create safer and more predictable travel for millions of daily commuters.

Traffic officials believe that keeping motorcycles in designated lanes will help cut down frequent collision hotspots, ease congestion for cars and buses, and support better road discipline overall.

The DIG added that public cooperation is essential for the success of the new system. Without consistent compliance, he said, enforcement alone cannot improve Karachi’s long-standing traffic challenges.
