Unified Azan & Prayer Timings Approved for Islamabad–Rawalpindi

The federal government has approved a unified system for Azan and prayer timings in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, bringing both cities under one standard schedule starting January 1, 2026.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said most of the groundwork was completed during his earlier tenure, and the remaining steps have now been finalized. From the new year, both cities will follow the same Azan and Jamaat timings.

The minister confirmed that the government plans to expand the unified system nationwide, and consultations with religious scholars from Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta are already underway.

According to officials, the aim is to bring uniformity to prayer timings in major cities and eventually across Pakistan.
