Electric Buses Launched on New Routes in Punjab District

The Punjab Transport Company has deployed 15 new electric buses in Chakwal as part of the province’s ongoing shift toward clean public transport. The service officially began on December 3, offering residents quieter, eco-friendly travel options across multiple routes.

According to the announcement, the buses are now operating on three key corridors:

  • District Complex to Dhudial

  • Tehsil Chowk to Balkasar

  • Tehsil Chowk to Mohal Mughlan

Officials described the project as a major step toward providing smog-free, low-noise commuting, equipped with air conditioning, digital information screens, and accessibility features for passengers.

The new service is part of Punjab’s wider rollout of zero-emission transport, aimed at reducing air pollution, improving traffic flow, and providing reliable mobility in both urban and rural regions.

Transport authorities say the Chakwal launch supports the provincial government’s broader plan to expand electric bus networks across Punjab, offering residents safer, modern, and environmentally sustainable travel options.
