The Rawalpindi District Education Authority (DEA) has enforced strict new security regulations for all private educational institutions across the district, with immediate effect.

District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Tariq announced that zero tolerance will be shown toward negligence related to student safety. He directed all private schools to complete the required security arrangements within two days and submit compliance reports before the deadline.

Key Security Measures Introduced

Under the newly issued 14-point security SOPs, private schools must implement the following measures:

  • Construction of boundary walls at least 8 feet high with an additional 2 feet of barbed wire

  • Installation of CCTV cameras covering inside and outside school premises

  • Functional backup systems, including UPS, to ensure uninterrupted surveillance

  • Establishment of a dedicated control room

  • Installation of metal detectors at entry points

  • Deployment of verified security guards in proper uniform with authorised weapons

  • Maintenance of a visitors’ entry register

  • Display of emergency contact numbers at visible locations

  • Placement of security instruction posters

  • Clearly marked emergency exits

  • Conduct of regular safety mock drills

Strict Action Warning

CEO Muhammad Tariq emphasized that failure to comply will result in strict legal action, including penalties against school administrations. He instructed school owners and principals to implement all SOPs without delay, stressing that student safety is non-negotiable.

The move comes amid growing concerns over school security and aims to ensure a safe and controlled learning environment for students across Rawalpindi.
