PSL 11 Is Just 3 Months Away — And Nothing Feels Ready Yet

PSL 11 Is Just 3 Months Away — And Nothing Feels Ready Yet

There are 93 days left until the start of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11). At this stage in a normal PSL cycle, fans would already be dissecting retention lists, mock-drafting squads, and arguing over which overseas star is skipping which league.

This year, the conversation is much shorter.

Everything about PSL 11 can be summed up in two words: “Coming Soon.”

Yes, the window is locked — March 26 to May 3. Yes, the PCB has confirmed expansion to eight teams. Yes, foreign player registration is open.

After that, the clarity drops off a cliff.

PSL 11 Is Just 3 Months Away — And Nothing Feels Ready Yet

The PSL 11 To-Do List (So Far)

Right now, PSL 11 feels less like a league in motion and more like a checklist stuck in draft mode.

Category Renewals – Coming Soon
The foundation of the draft system hasn’t been refreshed. With inflation, currency pressure, and two new teams entering the market, category pricing isn’t a small detail — it dictates squad balance across the league.

Number of Retentions – Coming Soon
Five? Eight? Ten? Franchises don’t yet know how many players they can retain. Every strategy meeting right now is based on assumptions, not rules.

Retention Deadline – Coming Soon
No date. No lists. No teaser graphics. For a league that usually thrives on retention drama, the silence is noticeable.

Mega Draft Date – Coming Soon
All that exists are vague hints about “early January” in Lahore. Nothing official, nothing fans can plan around. At this pace, a February draft wouldn’t shock anyone.

An Eight-Team League… Without Eight Teams

Perhaps the strangest part of the build-up is that a quarter of the league doesn’t technically exist yet.

The auction for the 7th and 8th franchises is expected in early January. That means:

  • No confirmed cities

  • No owners announced

  • No team names

  • No logos or colors

With three months to go, PSL 11 is an eight-team league on paper — and a six-team league in reality.

Format, Schedule, and Foreign Players: Still Foggy

Everyone knows PSL 11 will have more matches, but:

  • How many games per team?

  • Double round-robin or modified format?

  • Any Super stage or qualifiers tweak?

None of this has been formally announced.

Then there’s the foreign player question. The March–May window overlaps early county cricket and other international commitments. Yet there’s no clear indication which overseas regulars are available for full seasons, partial stints, or not at all.

Add in unanswered questions about:

  • Full schedule

  • Venue distribution

  • Ticketing

  • Opening ceremony

  • Ownership clarity for one existing franchise

…and PSL 11 currently feels less like a finished product and more like a very ambitious Google Doc still in edit mode.

Biggest PSL Ever — Or Biggest Test Yet?

On paper, PSL 11 should be the most exciting edition yet:

  • Expanded to eight teams

  • Longer window

  • Bigger commercial upside

Instead, with 93 days remaining, it’s shaping up as a test of how late you can leave everything and still deliver a professional T20 league.

PSL has earned trust over the years — but this time, the clock is loud, and “Coming Soon” is starting to wear thin.
