Islamabad will observe a local holiday on Friday, December 26, following an official notification issued by the district administration. The decision has been taken in view of the expected arrival of a high-level foreign delegation in the federal capital.
The notification, issued by Additional District Magistrate Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf, confirms that most offices within the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will remain closed for routine work on the day.
However, authorities clarified that the holiday will not apply to essential services. Offices and departments responsible for critical operations will continue to function normally. These include Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT Administration, ICT Police, IESCO, SNGPL, and hospitals.
Officials emphasized that maintaining uninterrupted essential services is necessary to ensure smooth functioning of the city during the visit. The holiday applies only to non-essential offices and routine administrative operations within Islamabad.
The announcement has prompted residents to adjust work and travel plans accordingly, while authorities remain focused on security and logistical arrangements linked to the visiting delegation.
