The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet is set to meet on December 9, 2025, according to an agenda document reviewed by ProPakistani.
The Defence Division is expected to request the release of budgetary funds for PIA Holding Company Limited (PIAHCL) during tomorrow’s session.
🏛️ Multiple divisions to present proposals
The committee will discuss contract terms for power purchases, while the Petroleum Division is scheduled to present its circular debt management plan for FY2025–26.
The IT & Telecom Division will seek a Rs. 1.28 billion technical supplementary grant to support the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) in implementing the Prime Minister’s artificial intelligence initiatives.
Two proposals are also on the agenda regarding implementation of a Lahore High Court decision linked to the “Ghani vs Federation of Pakistan” case, restrictions on importing chloroform, and changes to import procedures for vehicles under personal baggage, transfer of residence, and gift schemes.
💰 Major funds allocation expected
The Interior and Narcotics Division will request releases and surrenders under development expenditure for FY26. The federal government is expected to allocate Rs. 5 billion through a technical supplementary grant for the Housing Sector Subsidy.
The National Food Security & Research Division will propose winding up PASSCO and creating a special purpose public limited company for wheat stock management (WSMC).
ECC sessions typically review ministry summaries on supplementary grants, import approvals, subsidy requests, and energy price decisions tied to ongoing IMF commitments.
Officials say the upcoming meeting is likely to include both routine approvals and potential interventions related to inflation control and strategic commodity reserves.
