The Federal Board of Revenue has approved a major increase in reward limits for Inland Revenue officials. The maximum reward has been raised from 18 salaries to 24 salaries for outstanding performance.
The decision was made during the Board-in-Council meeting for fiscal year 2025-26, held at the FBR headquarters in Islamabad.
According to officials, the change applies to employees covered under Rule 6 of the Inland Revenue Reward Rules. A new evaluation system has also been introduced for ex-cadre officers and staff to ensure transparent performance-based rewards.
The updated system will use a weighted assessment mechanism, involving commissioners and senior members. PRAL has been instructed to make the system fully digital within seven days.
The board noted that Customs Reward Rules already allow up to 36 months of basic salary, so no changes were required there.
A separate discussion on special-performance rewards for cadre officers will be taken up in the next meeting.
