New Decline in Solar System Rates Creates Buying Opportunity

Solar system prices in Pakistan have fallen noticeably, creating a strong incentive for households to move towards clean energy before the return of peak power usage in summer.

With winter reducing nationwide electricity demand, market prices for 5kW, 7kW, 10kW and 15kW solar setups have decreased significantly, according to dealers and installers.

Industry reports indicate that many packages are now up to Rs. 150,000 cheaper compared to recent months. A complete 5kW setup — including panels, inverter and basic accessories — is now available for around Rs. 550,000.

A 7kW system is being sold at Rs. 625,000, effective December 2025, and can comfortably run two inverter air conditioners, a refrigerator, lights, fans and a washing machine.

Prices have also fallen for larger units. A 10kW system now averages Rs. 900,000, while a 15kW installation is priced near Rs. 1.3 million, suitable for bigger homes and small commercial spaces.

The downward trend follows President Asif Ali Zardari’s decision to temporarily suspend the 16% GST on solar systems, while also instructing the Federal Tax Ombudsman to review customer billing issues.

Industry analysts say the combination of lower rates and relief in taxes has created one of the best entry points for consumers interested in switching to solar energy.
