Web Desk: The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has approved a major reform by eliminating the weightage of academic marks in its recruitment merit formula — a move designed to make the hiring process more transparent and merit-based.
Chairman Lt. Gen. (retd) Muhammad Abdul Aziz announced that from now on, merit will be determined solely through written exams and interviews, with greater focus on PPSC test performance rather than academic grades.
The Commission has also ended additional marks previously granted for research work and non-clinical experience.
Officials confirmed that the new merit policy will take effect from January 1, 2026, creating a uniform, fair, and globally aligned evaluation system. The decision was finalized during a Full Commission meeting, following recommendations from the Reform Committee led by Retired IG Arif Nawaz Khan.
Secretary Afzal Ahmad added that the reforms were introduced after studying international recruitment standards, ensuring equal opportunity for all candidates.
