A new report reveals that 15,146 School Teacher Intern (STI) positions are currently lying vacant in government schools across Punjab, highlighting a major staffing gap just days before the recruitment deadline.
In Lahore alone, 276 schools still lack STIs. The breakdown shared by officials shows:

Despite the large number of empty posts, sources confirm that the recruitment drive has received over 150,000 applications so far.
The last date for submitting applications has been set as 21 November.
Officials say the vacancies will be filled strictly under the ongoing STI hiring policy, with placements based on merit and school-level needs.
