Petrol Price May Drop Soon — But Diesel Is Set to Jump by Rs 9+ in Pakistan

The federal government is preparing to revise petroleum product prices for the next fortnight. According to industry and market sources, the upcoming price update could bring a small reduction in MS petrol, while high-speed diesel, kerosene, and light diesel oil (LDO) are likely to see increases.

Petrol Price May Drop Soon — But Diesel Is Set to Jump by Rs 9+ in Pakistan

Specifically:

  • Petrol may drop by approximately Rs 1.96 to Rs 2 per litre, possibly reducing the price to around Rs 263.49 per litre.

  • Meanwhile, high-speed diesel (HSD) is expected to go up by about Rs 9.60 per litre, possibly climbing to Rs 288.40 per litre.

📅 When Will It Happen & Why

The national energy regulator, Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), will submit its pricing summary on November 15. Based on that, the government is expected to issue the official notification for new fuel rates which will take effect from Saturday, November 16.

These adjustments come amid global crude-oil price fluctuations, exchange-rate pressures, and rising costs of imported fuel — which heavily influence domestic fuel pricing.

🔧 Why It Matters to You

  • Even a small drop in petrol price provides some relief for daily commuters and private-vehicle owners.

  • A sharp increase in diesel and kerosene affects heavy transport, goods movement, and ultimately raises the cost of living — because transportation costs feed into prices of goods and services.

  • For businesses that rely on heavy machinery or generators running on diesel, this jump will increase operating costs significantly.

  • The timing is crucial: if diesel and kerosene prices rise ahead of winter demand, heating and fuel-based costs may burden lower-income households more.

🧭 Key Points to Remember

  • Petrol expected to drop by ~Rs 2 per litre.

  • Diesel (HSD) expected to increase significantly, possibly ~Rs 9.60 per litre.

  • Other fuels (kerosene, LDO) also likely to rise.

  • New prices likely effective from 16 November 2025.

  • Domestic consumers get some relief (via petrol) but transport and goods sectors may feel pain from diesel hike.
