PM Confirms Resignation of SAPM on Blockchain & Crypto — Official Records Updated

The Prime Minister has formally accepted the resignation of Bilal Bin Saqib from his role as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Blockchain and Crypto.

Bilal Bin Saqib originally entered the public sector as CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) and was later assigned the federal blockchain and digital assets portfolio, serving as SAPM with the status of Minister of State.

According to the Cabinet Division, his name has now been removed from the official record of Ministers of State, Special Assistants, and Advisers, confirming that his resignation has been processed.

Despite the Cabinet Division update, the National Assembly’s official website still lists Bilal Bin Saqib as SAPM on Blockchain and Crypto with the same ministerial status, creating a temporary discrepancy between government records.

Separately, another notification states that he has been appointed chairman of the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, which is now operational and has finalized its rules framework.

This development indicates that Pakistan’s crypto and virtual asset regulation will continue to move forward under the new authority structure, even as top roles within the federal blockchain policy shift.
