PMD Predicts Rain and Snowfall Across Pakistan This Week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert warning citizens about rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall across various parts of the country from 19th to 23rd December 2025.

Balochistan

A western disturbance entering Balochistan on 19th December will bring:

  • Rain, wind, and thunderstorms

  • Snowfall in hilly areas

Affected districts include Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Zhob, Turbat, Gwadar, Lasbella, Kech, Khuzdar, and more from 19th evening to 20th December.

PMD Predicts Rain and Snowfall Across Pakistan This Week

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Rain and wind with moderate snowfall in upper regions is expected in:
Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Nowshera, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Kohat, and surrounding areas from 20th night to 22nd December.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir

Heavy snow and thunderstorms expected in:

  • Gilgit-Baltistan: Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Astore, Ghizer, Diamir

  • Kashmir: Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Mirpur, Bhimber

The alert covers 20th December night to 23rd December morning.

Punjab and Islamabad

  • Rain and thunderstorms expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar region, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Noorpurthal, Layyah (20th evening to 21st December)

  • Snowfall likely in Murree and Galiyat (20th night to 21st December)

  • Cloudy with drizzle in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, D.G. Khan

Sindh

Mostly partly cloudy to cloudy weather on 19th-20th December.

Advice to Citizens

  • Take precautions while traveling, especially in mountainous and northern regions

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during snowfall and thunderstorms

  • Keep updated through PMD notifications for local changes
