Punjab Orders Special Audit of All Driving License Centers After Corruption Scandal

The Punjab Police has directed a special audit of all driving license centers across the province after a corruption scandal was exposed at the Liberty Khidmat Markaz Licensing Center in Lahore.

According to Express News, the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Inspection has instructed all district police officers to conduct a comprehensive inspection of their respective licensing centers. Officers of the Superintendent of Police (SP) rank will lead these audits.

🔍 20-Point Checklist for Audits

A 20-point audit checklist has been prepared, covering key areas such as:

  • Corruption complaints

  • Involvement of agent mafias

  • Overcharging of applicants

  • Bribery and illegal fee collection

  • Unauthorized agents operating near centers

Audit teams will also review video footage of sign and road tests from the past 30 days to ensure transparency in the licensing process.

📋 Records and Evidence Under Review

Officers have been instructed to examine:

  • Registers and financial records

  • CCTV footage

  • Evidence of irregularities and misconduct

The directive further states that all audit reports, including findings and recommendations, must be submitted by November 25.

The audit teams will operate under the supervision of District Police Officers (DPOs) and Police Lines offices.
