Punjab’s Driving Licence System Goes Offline — Users Face Delays

Citizens in Punjab attempting to apply for new driving licences or renew existing ones are facing delays after the province’s official online portal went offline. The disruption has paused digital services for thousands who depend on the system for licence applications, renewals, and status verification.

No official reason for the outage has been issued at the time of writing.

The affected system is DLIMS Punjab (Driving License Issuance Management System) — the government’s dedicated platform for handling driving-licence services online. Through DLIMS, users normally submit learner applications, renew licences, download e-licences, verify licence information, and track processing in real time.

Attempting to access the site currently results in an error message, leaving services unavailable. This means no new applications, no renewals, no e-licence downloads, and no live tracking updates. The disruption is particularly challenging for applicants with expiring licences or for first-time drivers needing urgent approvals.

DLIMS was introduced as a streamlined alternative to manual, paperwork-heavy procedures at physical offices. It promised reduced waiting times, easier documentation, and faster processing through digital channels.

With the outage, that convenience has been lost. Users are now stuck waiting, raising concerns over delays and uncertainty for anyone dependent on the digital platform.
