Rawalpindi Approves New Modern Hospital — Big City Upgrade Planned

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has given the green light to build a modern hospital in the Jhanda Chichi area, marking a major move to strengthen healthcare access in the city.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, where officials also approved shifting multiple large facilities to designated zones on the Ring Road corridor.

🚑 Better Healthcare Access

According to officials, the new hospital is intended to reduce the load on existing medical centers and make treatment more accessible for residents living in and around densely populated localities. The DG said upgraded healthcare is a priority and the new project will deliver more timely services.

🏙️ Reshaping City Planning

Alongside the hospital approval, RDA also decided to relocate a range of public-facing facilities including:

  • Wholesale fruit and vegetable markets

  • Transport terminals

  • Educational institutions

  • Industrial units

These facilities will be shifted to planned zones near the Ring Road to help cut traffic congestion, lower pollution, and distribute urban pressure more evenly across Rawalpindi.

🗂️ New Dedicated Zones

The DG directed the Engineering Directorate, Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering Directorate, Estate Management Directorate, and Land Development Directorate to identify and allot suitable land for development.

RDA plans to shift transport terminals to the starting and ending points of the Ring Road to improve connectivity between districts and support smoother public movement.

Officials also announced plans for dedicated health zones featuring hospitals, medical stores, laboratories, and diagnostic centers.
