Authorities have imposed Section 144 in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi, restricting public gatherings over security concerns.
A notification from the Islamabad district magistrate said the order takes effect immediately and will remain in force for two months, banning gatherings of five or more people, rallies, and demonstrations in public areas, including the Red Zone. The order will stay in place until January 18, 2026.
In Rawalpindi, the deputy commissioner issued a separate notification, placing similar restrictions until December 3, citing intelligence reports of planned protests and possible threats to sensitive locations and major roads. Public gatherings and the display of weapons have been banned for three days.
Officials say the measures are necessary to maintain peace and prevent any disturbance to law and order.
