Islamabad Police Officer Found Dead in Suspected Suicide Case

A senior police officer, Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar, who was serving as SP Industrial Area Zone in Islamabad, has reportedly passed away in what authorities are describing as a suspected case of suicide.

According to early reports, the incident took place near the Serena Hotel while SP Akbar was on duty. He was rushed to Polyclinic Hospital and later transferred to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The Islamabad Police have not yet issued an official statement. A formal inquiry has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

📰 Background

SP Adeel Akbar was an officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) and had recently taken charge of the Industrial Area Zone. He held an MPhil in Governance and Public Policy from the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad.

Throughout his career, he served in several districts across Balochistan, earning recognition for his professionalism and leadership in community policing, security management, and crisis response.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a special investigation team has been formed to review all aspects of the case, including communications received prior to the incident. Further details will be shared once the inquiry concludes.
