Lahore Ring Road Toll Tax Increased Across All Vehicle Categories

Commuters using the Lahore Ring Road will now have to pay more, as the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) has officially announced a 16.67% increase in toll tax rates across the Northern Loop, Southern Loop, and Eastern Bypass. The revised toll charges have already come into effect earlier this week and apply to all major vehicle categories.

Revised Toll Rates for Different Vehicles

Under the updated structure, the toll for cars and jeeps has been increased from Rs. 60 to Rs. 70, directly impacting daily commuters. Similarly, Hiace vans and wagons will now be charged Rs. 140 instead of Rs. 120.

Minibuses and coasters have also seen a hike, with toll charges raised from Rs. 120 to Rs. 140, while buses will now pay Rs. 350, up from Rs. 300.

Higher Charges for Heavy Transport

The increase is more significant for heavy vehicles. Toll for loader trucks, dumpers, and pickups with 2–3 axles has been revised from Rs. 360 to Rs. 420. Meanwhile, trucks and trailers with more than three axles will now pay Rs. 700, compared to the previous Rs. 600.

Authorities say the revised rates are part of routine adjustments aimed at road maintenance, operational costs, and infrastructure sustainability.

Vehicles Exempted from Toll Tax

Despite the increase, several vehicle categories remain fully exempt from paying toll tax on the Lahore Ring Road. These include:

  • Ambulances

  • Defense vehicles

  • Fire fighting vehicles

  • Police vehicles

  • Funeral vans

  • Flag cars

  • Official vehicles of the Authority or concessionaire

  • Vehicles assigned to essential services

  • Vehicles bearing special plates of the Presidency, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Governor House, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, and foreign dignitaries on state visits

Impact on Daily Commuters

The toll hike is expected to impact daily office commuters, transport operators, and logistics companies, especially those relying heavily on the Ring Road for faster travel across Lahore. Many commuters are likely to feel the pinch as transportation costs continue to rise.
