Federal educational institutions in Islamabad have officially announced their winter vacation schedule under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).
According to an official notification, all schools and colleges operating under the federal system — including Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges in both urban and rural areas — will remain closed from December 26, 2025, to January 3, 2026.
Academic activities will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026, after the conclusion of the winter break.
The FDE has further informed that Saturday, January 10, 2026, will be observed as a working day for administrative, teaching, and non-teaching staff. Officials said staff members will report on that day to complete priority tasks already communicated by the Directorate.
The winter vacation instructions have been circulated to all heads of institutions through Area Education Officers and have been issued with the approval of the Director General, FDE.
Meanwhile, winter vacation schedules have also been finalised across other provinces due to the prevailing cold weather conditions. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, schools in summer zones will close from January 1 to January 15, while institutions in colder regions will observe a longer break from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
In Sindh, public and private schools and colleges will remain closed from December 22 to December 31, with classes resuming on January 1, while board examinations will continue as scheduled.
The Punjab government has also announced winter holidays for schools from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026, with teaching activities resuming on January 10.
