The Lahore High Court has formally launched a biometric verification mechanism for court proceedings, marking a significant shift toward digital identification within the judicial system. The move aligns with directions issued by the National Judicial Policy Making Committee.
An official statement released by the LHC confirmed that Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has ordered the implementation of biometric verification not only at the high court but also across the district judiciary in Punjab. Formal instructions have been circulated to ensure uniform enforcement.
Under the new framework, biometric authentication will become mandatory at the time of case filing. Litigants will be required to verify their identity through biometric data, while witnesses and sureties will also undergo the same process before their participation is recorded.
Court officials stated that the biometric system will be integrated with the NADRA database to guarantee accurate identification. To facilitate ease of access, biometric verification services will also be available at designated NADRA e-Sahulat centers.
The system will be activated at the principal seat of the Lahore High Court, along with its benches in Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rawalpindi. Additionally, all district courts across Punjab will adopt the biometric process for litigants, witnesses, and sureties as part of the rollout.
