The Pakistan Super League is officially moving into its most ambitious phase yet as the league confirms the auction date for its two upcoming franchises — a milestone that will significantly reshape the tournament’s future.
The announcement follows the PSL’s completion of financial and commercial valuations for all current franchises and associated assets, clearing the final hurdle for expansion.
The league has set 6 January 2026 as the date on which two new franchises will formally join the PSL. Only bidders that meet strict technical and financial criteria will be cleared to participate, ensuring that the new owners entering the competition are credible and capable of long-term investment.
The move represents a major milestone in the PSL’s long-running expansion plans and is expected to introduce fresh competition, new rivalries and additional career opportunities for emerging cricketers nationwide.
Ahead of the auction, the Pakistan Cricket Board has finalized a list of six eligible cities from which bidders can choose their franchise identity: Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit. Successful bidders will have free choice among these shortlisted locations.
PSL and PCB officials expressed enthusiasm for the next chapter of the league, saying the expansion reflects broader ambitions to grow Pakistan cricket both commercially and competitively.
With the auction date now set, the arrival of two new teams will widen the league’s footprint, deepen its player pool, and further elevate Pakistan’s biggest sports brand.
