Punjab Announces Decision on Increasing Electric Bus Ticket Price 2025

Lahore (Wednesday, Oct 29, 2025) — The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has decided not to increase the ticket prices for electric buses operating in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.

Punjab Announces Decision on Increasing Electric Bus Ticket Price 2025

The decision came during the 30th provincial cabinet meeting, where a proposal to raise fares was unanimously rejected. The chief minister emphasized that public transport must remain affordable for citizens, especially for students, workers, and low-income families relying on daily commutes.

“These buses were launched to make travel easier, not more expensive,” Maryam Nawaz said during the meeting. “People’s relief will remain our top priority.”

🚍 Affordable, Green Transport for Punjab

The electric bus service is part of Punjab’s eco-friendly transport initiative to reduce urban pollution and provide modern, affordable commuting options.

By maintaining existing fares, the government aims to encourage more citizens to shift to electric buses, helping reduce fuel dependency and traffic congestion in major cities.

👩‍🏫 New Teacher Recruitment and Property Law Approved

The cabinet also approved the recruitment of School Teacher Interns (STIs) in government schools across Punjab to address teacher shortages and improve educational access.

Additionally, the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025 was approved — a major step under the “One who possesses it owns it” vision. The law is designed to safeguard rightful property owners from illegal land occupation and fraudulent claims.

🚜 Farmers Get 60% Subsidy on Modern Machinery

A new subsidy program under the Chief Minister’s High-Tech Farm Mechanisation Finance Programme has also been approved.

Under this initiative, farmers will get super seeders and other modern agricultural equipment at a 60% subsidy. So far, over 10,000 applications have been received — including 1,500 through the Bank of Punjab.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that Punjab’s agriculture sector suffered in the past due to poor mechanization, but the current government is determined to change that.

🌾 Sugarcane Crushing Season & Kisan Card Update

The cabinet confirmed that the sugarcane crushing season will begin on November 15.

Officials shared that under Kisan Card Phase-II, Rs100 billion has been distributed to farmers, while Rs70 billion was successfully recovered from the previous phase. Remarkably, second-phase payments are processed within 24 hours of repayment.
